Privacy Policy

OilSiphon ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This policy applies to oilsiphon.com, oilsiphon.app, and any other web property operated by OilSiphon (collectively, the "Services").

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information you provide when you or your employer enrolls you in OilSiphon, including your name, email address, mobile phone number, employer (operator name), and role (e.g. controller, accountant, pumper, JV partner, royalty owner).
  • Operational data submitted in the course of using the Services, including daily well production readings (oil, gas, water volumes), pumper route activity timestamps, photographs of paper run sheets, invoice PDFs, run tickets, and partner/owner correspondence.
  • Technical data automatically collected when you use the Services, including IP address, browser type and version, device identifiers, pages viewed, and timestamps. We use this for security, debugging, and aggregate product analytics.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Services for the operator that engaged us.
  • Confirm, validate, and process daily field readings submitted via SMS, photo, or web.
  • Generate joint-interest billing (JIB) statements, royalty owner statements, and regulatory filing drafts (e.g. Texas RRC Form PR).
  • Send transactional and operational messages, including SMS confirmations, variance alerts, and route-progress notifications. Messaging frequency is variable; see our SMS Terms of Service for details. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Maintain a secure, auditable record of all agent and human actions.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security threats.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Mobile Phone Numbers — Important

OilSiphon will NEVER share, sell, rent, lease, or transfer mobile phone numbers (or any other personally identifying contact information) to third parties for marketing, promotional, or advertising purposes. Mobile phone numbers collected in connection with the OilSiphon SMS service are used solely to operate that service on behalf of the operator who enrolled each user.

We do not share mobile phone numbers with affiliates for marketing purposes. We do not share mobile phone numbers with data brokers or list-rental services. The only categories of third parties that may process a mobile phone number on our behalf are:

  • Our SMS service provider (Twilio Inc.), strictly for the technical purpose of sending and receiving messages on our behalf.
  • Our infrastructure providers (Supabase, fly.io), strictly for the technical purpose of storing and processing the data needed to run the Services.
  • Our AI processing provider (Anthropic PBC), strictly for the technical purpose of parsing inbound messages into structured data.

All third-party processors are bound by data processing agreements that prohibit using the data for any purpose other than providing services to us.

How We Share Information

We share information only as described in this Policy, including:

  • With your employer (the operator that engaged OilSiphon on your behalf): operational data you submit is shared with the operator's authorized staff so they can run their back office.
  • With the operator's joint-interest partners and royalty owners: limited, decimal-interest-scoped views of production and statement data are visible to those partners through their portal accounts.
  • With service providers and vendors that help us operate the Services, as listed above.
  • When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of OilSiphon, our users, or others.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, or sale of all or part of OilSiphon's business, subject to standard confidentiality protections.

Data Retention

We retain personal and operational data for as long as your operator maintains an active account with us, plus a period thereafter required to comply with legal, accounting, audit, and regulatory obligations. For oil & gas regulatory data, that retention period is typically seven (7) years.

Your Rights and Choices

  • SMS opt-out: at any time, reply STOP to any text message from OilSiphon to unsubscribe from the SMS service.
  • Access and correction: contact us to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you or to correct inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: contact us to request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal obligation to retain regulated records.
  • Marketing opt-out: we do not send marketing messages to enrolled users. You will not receive promotional SMS, email, or calls from us as a result of being enrolled in the OilSiphon SMS service.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to enrolled users via email or in-product notice.
